Been a little "blog shy" lately....

Ok, here's the deal.... I haven't blogged since mid July for two reasons...

1) Started my new job three weeks ago, and I'm super busy--you know , the whole lifestyle adjustment thing. AND.................

2) I'm kinda "blog shy". What does that mean, you may ask? Well, I see all this creative writing going on via the blog, and I just don't want all that pressure! Know what I mean? I just want to get on here and write ...sort of let my thoughts pour out of my head. My BFF convinced me that I don't have to be all "cutesy" on the blog, just be myself....so here it is....

Let's talk about MY NEW JOB! Woo hoo! I am absolutely LOVING my new venture. I can't believe how natural it all feels ....it just feels RIGHT. Know what I mean? To me, that means that the timing must be right for me. It's the right time in my life for me to be "back in the real world", so to speak. Don't get my wrong--my children are my number one priority and the most important things in my life, but I feel like it's ok to add another dimension to my life.

I'm just loving everything right now. LOVE my work schedule / hours. I am working 7:00-3:30 pm right now. When school starts, I will work 6:30- 3:00 pm , and I'll be home when the kids get off the bus! The hub is taking the kids to our before school babysitter now, and he will continue to do so when school starts. She lives in our neighborhood (less than 2 minutes from our house) and behind the school!

I'm also loving everything about my desk at work. It's like my little oasis right now. Seriously, I'm just having so much fun dressing it up, decorating , and accessorizing! Loving all the office supplies. Mmmmm hmmmmm---nothin' like a new stapler and tape dispenser. And everyday before I leave, I take so much pride in tidying up my little oasis--I know it sounds crazy, but it's mine, all mine!

Also...LOVING getting showered and dressed first thing everything morning. I get up , drink my coffee, take a shower, do my hair, make-up, put on real clothes and out the door. Loving it.

Finally---the job itself I know that I already love. I'm a social worker who does in home assessments with older adults and I coordinate home care services (so that these folks can stay at home longer and avoid a nursing home.) Seriously, it's pretty damn satisfying.

Everything seems to be falling into place, except that I need to start dieting again! Ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But that's another post.

Oh, and for those of you who are wondering---Alli worked fine for the first week when I was truly eating low fat, but after that when I went "off" the diet a little ---it was not pretty, side effect city.

Alli, anyone?

Ok, so who's on it? Who's tried it? I purchased a bottle for myself today. Trust me, I KNOW it's not a miracle drug, but simply meant to enhance a low fat diet and exercise program. You see, I know what works...because I lost 40 pounds about a year ago. I was maintaining until this spring when my weight began creeping up. And now, so many of my clothes are TIGHT. I can't stand it! How did I let this happen? Well, it all stops here! I lost the weight doing Weight Watchers and Jazzercise (which I love). I have maintained the Jazzercise all along, but just need to get back to healthy eating...which I am doing ....and also using Alli as a little "enhancement". Any comments about the alli are appreciated!

A MUST SEE MOVIE..."Evening"

Ok, here's the deal....I think that "Evening" is probably one of the best movies that I've ever seen! It is AMAZING, and I highly recommend it. I saw it last night with two of my dear "gal pals". We've had a little tradition of doing dinner and a movie once a month (or at least we aim for once a month) since my son was born 9 years ago! We always have a great time. Last night was really fun and relaxing. We went to Grandview, which is a quaint little part of the Columbus area. We ate at an adorable little Italian restaurant called Figlio's. After dinner we just walked thru Grandview to the movie theater. Grandview is just really cool....the sidewalks are lined with little specialty restaurants, coffee houses, ice cream parlors, etc.. AND, all of these joints have cute little outdoor tables right on the sidewalk. The movie theater is a really neat building (just one screen, one movie) that was built back in the 1940's. Very quaint, nostalgic, and hip all at the same time!

Back to the movie.....go see it with your mother or some of your best girlfriends. You will not be disappointed!

Lovin' my new lounge chair from CVS!

Ok, gals...listen to this deal. I was getting tired of not getting a lounge chair at our community pool everyday. I mean, I would get one eventually--but usually had to wait and watch, and pretty much start stalking someone who looked as if they may be packing up to leave. Anyhow, no more of that since I will now be taking my own $3.20 chair to the pool! Here's how I cashed in. I had received a recorded phone call from CVS stating that if any purchase was made between July 1st and whenever, I'd get 13.00 in CVS bucks. Pretty much just here's 13 bucks to spend free and clear. So, I went in today--bought a pack for gum, got my coupon. I bought a 20 dollar chair that was on sale for 16.00, then used my 13.00 coupon.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it really 9 years later?

Ok, here's the deal........I can't believe that it's been NINE whole years! I've been a stay-at-home mom for 9 years, and on July 16th I will re-enter "the workforce". Seriously, it sounds like I'll be entering into another galaxy. I've been home since my son was born (my daugther was born two years later!), and it's just been great. I wouldn't go back and change a thing. I have LOVED being home with them. Besides, I'm way too much of a control freak to have sent them to daycare or anywhere else for that matter. Even though I feel ready for this new phase of my life, I know that I'll have some bittersweet moments. For instance, I just can't wrap my head around the fact that I don't have babies anymore! They are 7 and 9! I know that initially I will feel like I'm just "playing"---you know, when I get to wear pretty clothes and drive to a new fun office downtown. Kind of like "Career Barbie" , if you will. By the way, I'm not really going to be a Corporate Diva. I'm a Social Worker! But, I still get the pretty clothes and funky downtown office.

Welcome to my new blog!

Ok, here's the deal......I owe this whole new blog thing to my best friend, Kim. Honestly, without her, I just wouldn't even be here in "blog world". You see, I'm just not very high tech. My dear BFF created this blog for me, and all I had to do was show up. Isn't she the greatest? Love her to death. She really wanted this blog for me, since she feels that my stories just have to be told......so, here we go.....here's the deal.....my life from desperate housewife to corporate diva.
